Matt grew up in West Henrietta and attended Rush Henrietta Schools.

After High School, Matt attended the University of Rochester where he majored in Science, French and Russian.

Matt cirrently works in IT at Paychex.

In 2000 he met a gentleman at work who played the bagpipes. “This was something that always interested me” Matt said. “I asked if he could help me get started, and I was off!! I have played weddings and other engagements throughout the upstate NY area.”

Matt spends a lot of the summer months traveling to various Highland Games up and down the East Coast. “I also spend a lot of time practicing; working on my sound , tuning and technique,” Matt said.

He currently plays a vintage set of ebony and ivory bagpipes, made by prominent maker, Peter Henderson. His pipes date back to World War I. “There are lots of great bagpipes being made today, but arguably, there is a certain extra quality about having that history on your shoulder!” says Matt.

Matt lives in Brighton, NY with his wife Toni and step-daughter Erin. His other step-daughter Heather is married and lives in Seattle with her husband Mark.  Matt and Toni also share their home with their Golden Retriever Maccallan, and their cat Bertha.

When he is not piping, Matt dabbles in wood working and has remodeled most of their 120 year old farmhouse. He also is a big fan of everything techie – hence the domain name for his website – “pipergeek!”

Out of the Ordinary Special Events highly recommends Matt Weasner to entertain your guests.
